Legendary Banked Slalom, Locals Qualifier at Mt. Baker Ski Area
1/20 – 1/21/2019

Nordic Ski Ambassadors at Salmon Ridge: Nooksack Nordic Ski Club
Saturdays during the snow season*** must have snow at the SnoPark for these events.
Ski Ambassadors are on hand at the Salmon Ridge SnoPark at mile 46 with maps of the local ski and snowshoe trails as well as the opportunity to buy a SnoPark pass. Look at and talk about different types of skis, put on a pair of snowshoes and try them out.

Legendary Banked Slalom: Mt. Baker Ski Area  2/8 – 2/10/2019
Now in its 33rd year the Legendary Banked Slalom is Mt. Baker Ski Areas signature event. Snowboarders from nearby and far away come to Mt. Baker to ride the slalom course in the hopes of bringing home the coveted duct tape trophy.

Recreation Northwest Expo  2/23/2019
This event takes place in Bellingham at the Bellingham Cruise Terminal.  Meet face to face with apparel and gear manufacturers, retailers, outdoor media, activity clubs, stewardship organizations and representatives from your favorite local recreation events and races. Explore Washington’s outdoor recreation opportunities and find new ways to get outside and play.

Baker Beacon Rally: Mt. Baker Ski Area  3/9/2019
Bring your shovel, probe and beacon or use a demo. A free community education event, bringing local avalanche professionals together to share avalanche rescue skills and promote mountain safety.

Mt. Baker Splitfest  3/15-17
Held at Chair 9 in Glacier. An event to meet other people to tour with, try out new gear and raise money to support the Northwest Avalanche Center.

April
Easter Egg Hunt
Hosted by the Mt. Baker Lions Club each year on Easter Sunday at Silver Lake Park.

Golden Egg Hunt: Mt. Baker Ski Area  4/13/2019
More than 6000 eggs will be hidden on the slopes of Mt. Baker for skiers and riders to find while enjoy the slopes. In addition Kids Hunts, for kids age 2 and under through age 10, will be held throughout the day for free, no lift ticket or season pass necessary.

Honkers head to head moguls contest, that’s so retro costume contest and more.

Ski to Sea Race  5/26/2019
Teams race, relay style, from Mt. Baker Ski Area through Whatcom County and finish in Fairhaven.

Twin Sisters Farmers Market is a cooperatively run mobile market that serves Nugents Corner and Kendall every Saturday from June through October. The farmers are committed to providing a diverse variety of high quality produce grown right here in Whatcom County!

Deming Logging Show 6/8 – 6/9/2019
The Deming Logging Show grounds come alive the second full weekend in June each year for the annual Deming Logging Show with events and exhibitions to display the skills, tools, and technology used in the logging industry.

Nooksack River Stewards: Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association
Weekends in June through September, 6/29/2019 – 9/21/2019
The Nooksack River Stewards program is a collaboration between the United States Forest Service and NSEA. Through the River Stewards program, NSEA engages residents and visitors and provides outreach and education about wild salmon, native fish populations, and the Nooksack River watershed. The River Stewards program is based in Glacier, WA. All events are free and open to the public – no registration required. The program features an outreach booth, Noisy River Walk along the Horseshoe Bend Trail, rafting talks and community events.

Rubber Ducky Race
3rd Saturday in July
Hosted by Mt. Baker Lion’s Club each summer. Watch the ducks race at Boulder Creek just east of Maple Falls. Tickets purchased in advance support Mt. Baker Lion’s Club. Race begins at 11:30 am, rain or shine

August
Bigfoot Festival  8/4/2019
Hosted by the Maple Falls Park Group. Happening in downtown Maple Falls each summer on the first Sunday in August, find vendors, arts and crafts, food and games.

Mt. Baker Rhythm & Blues Festival  8/1 – 8/4/2019
Held each summer at the Deming Logging Show grounds. Music, camping and vendors make this a popular summer event.

Subdued Stringband Jamboree  8/8 – 8/10/2019
Held on the Deming Logging Show grounds. Local bands (with a few blow-ins) along with a campground full of tents, guitars, coolers, and banjos surrounding two stages, creating three nights and two days of pickin’, singin’, and stompin’.

North Cascades Bluegrass Festival  8/31-9/2/2019
Previously titled the Hovander Homestead Bluegrass Festival, this event was given a new name and location but still promises the same great festival experience.  Held at the Deming Logging Show grounds.

Mt. Baker Car Show: Mt. Baker Lions Club
Hosted by the Mt. Baker Lions Club. Held on Saturday of Labor Day weekend along Mt. Baker Highway in Maple Falls.

Mt. Baker Hill Climb
Bicyclists ride from Glacier to Artist Point in a 22 mile race gaining 4098 feet in elevation.

Cloud Mountain Farm’s Annual Fall Fruit Festival  10/5 – 10/6/2019
This event takes place in Everson.  A tasty and festive weekend at Cloud Mountain Farm. Experience the farm firsthand and savor the bounty of our region. This family-friendly event features tastings of over 200 varieties of fruits and vegetables all grown on the farm.

Deming Logging Show Oktoberfest  10/11 – 10/12/2019
Held each year on the second full weekend of October, Deming Oktoberfest opens at High noon of Friday before closing out late Saturday evening. Each day attendees enjoy live music from the Tillamook, Oregon-based Polkatones band – a traveling ensemble decked out in dirndls and lederhosen. This event is 21+ only.

Kendall PTA Holiday Bazaar: date tbd
Find dozens of unique vendors peddling their wares in the Kendall Elementary gym. Snacks, entertainment and photos with Santa round out this annual event.
